The project is the completed winning competition entry for an extension of Skissernas Museum, Museum of Artistic Process and Public Art, Lund, whose unique collection is focused on artistic process. The current building is a cluster of several additions resulting in a closed block facing the park. The new extension contains a double height foyer and a restaurant connected to a terrace facing south, in an open composition aiming to reconnect the museum, the park, and the city.
The two bent Cor-Ten steel volumes adjusts the direction in which the building faces the park, and introduces a new material in relation to the raw concrete museum building and the brick architecture of the University campus. Just as an artistic process evolves with time, the museum materiality will gradually change over time. The floating window layout offers multiple views across the rooms and towards the park, as artworks on a wall. All of the furniture is also designed by Elding Oscarson.
